- what makes our approach different?

Most coaches help their clients to develop new skills and techniques, focusing primarily on behaviour. For example, how to manage your time and priorities, develop more rapport, handle conflict, clear your clutter or clarify your goals.

Such new skills are often implanted at surface face level only. It is easy to slide back into old behaviour patterns after a short time. This is because we are attempting to solve a problem that has arisen because of certain deeply held assumptions about ourselves. If you do not learn how to observe yourself, you cannot easily change old behaviours and habits. To change behaviours, we need to increase our awareness and become more present. Inner transformation is the essential first step to transforming our outer world.

At Insight Coaching, we focus on building awareness first and changing behaviour second. Leading from the inside out is not about learning a bunch of quick tips that will instantly change your life. Our team and leadership development programmes are about consistent, integrated, balanced, lifelong growth. What about the Practicalities?

Leadership Coaching is a confidential, highly personalised learning process. It involves rigorous self analysis, learning through action, deep reflection, personal challenge, and working in equal partnership with your coach.

A typical coaching programme lasts 6-12 months, meeting with your coach usually twice a month for up to two hours at a time. Meetings can be both face to face and on the telephone – at your place of work or at my office near Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

We use a wide variety of development models, methods and materials gleaned from over 20 years’ experience of people development. Cutting edge personality assessments and traditional 360 feedback can be included, if required. You would be expected to carry out some agreed ‘fieldwork’ between sessions.

Team Development starts with an initial research stage to discover what the real issues are. We would examine your current situation against well researched components of successful teams. Then devise a series of facilitated learning events over several months to support you and your team to put each component in place.
